Research
With very little budget to spare on user interviews, we found multiple other ways to understand users. Had to explore multiple ideas on how to perform an efficient secondary research. We explored how people in different cities post about their needs to find a flatmate, and how different people post about an available vacancy.

Analyzing those posts on Facebook groups and multiple Whatsapp groups gave key insights into user needs and pain points.

Designing the Listing Flow

From early conversations with landlords, one clear pain point stood out: listing a property takes too much effort, and many drop off midway. This was a simple but valuable insight shared with our founders by a landlord in Mumbai.

Ran a competitive analysis and studied Airbnb’s listing flow in detail, going through every screen. My account even got flagged for unusual activity. What stood out was how Airbnb reduces friction by breaking the process into small, progressive steps, with each screen focused and minimal. This approach not only lowered cognitive load but also left space for a clean, visually pleasing UI.

Taking cues from that, I designed our flow -

  • Let users pick up where they left off – If someone dropped out midway, they could continue right from the home screen without starting over.

  • Cover all property types without clutter – The flow handled every scenario but each screen stayed minimal, with only the most important options visible.

  • Split the process into small steps – This is obviously a must instead of having a dumb long form with literally a 100% drop-off rate. The entire process was divided into minute steps just like Airbnb’s flow, shaped together with our founders who brought in their learnings from users. This allowed us to show only the required design elements on each screen and keep the UI minimal and pleasing, without adding cognitive load.

This became our first version of the listing flow, making the process less of a chore and more of a guided path landlords could actually complete.

Subscription details - Features included in different Plans

Three Different features are bundled in Four plans.

There was a clear understanding

To make sure users understand the difference between plans and features, plans were shown with features included in them and an FTA was displayed to scroll users below the plans, where every feature is individually explained.
  • To make it further clear for users, added plans that come with these features bundled for every feature

  • With color codes in place for every plan, accessibility can be difficult. I made sure text was added properly for each
